Log Pond Cove is a shallow embayment off the mainstem river with abundant aquatic plant growth, including the invasive water chestnut.  It is monitored for bacteria levels in order to evaluate the timing and extent of water chestnut control work in the cove.

How Do I Get There?

Log Pond Cove does not have any direct public access by foot or water on the Holyoke side of the river.  It is reachable if you launch from the hand carry boat launch on River Road in South Hadley or from launches farther upstream at the Oxbow or private marinas and clubs.

Bacteria levels can increase due to rainfall and runoff, which can be reflected in river flow levels.
